 Family and Friends!

I am excited to share with you a new God direction for my ministry and calling.  Through  United Methodist Global Missions, I have been trained, certified and appointed to a short term missionary position in Honduras. After four exploratory mission trips to Honduras, countless hours of prayer, research and networking, God has clearly revealed how he desires me to live out my call at this time in my life. Trust me when I say, being a missionary was never on my career radar, but I have always loved the fact that God is a God of surprise! He loves to put us in places and situations where we are forced to be totally dependent on Him.

Basically, in my new role as a missionary:

  • My first step will be to live and serve on the island of Roatan, Honduras from May 19, 2012  through July 21, 2012. I will be partnering with Project Honduras, which serves as a missions host for the Methodist Church in Roatan  (www.hondomission.com).
  • My short term goal is to build relationships with the people of Roatan by developing local youth servant leadership teams.
  • My God vision is to ultimately, over time partner with churches in Roatan to develop     sustainable discipleship structures for children and youth.

As you can imagine this new missionary position presents various challenges for me, as well as,  my family.

  • We need both prayers and support to make this mission calling a reality. The total amount of funds needed to live and serve in Honduras for 65 days is approximately $6,000 (covers  airline tickets, transportation, communication, medical & travel insurance, food, lodging, medicine, immunizations, and ministry projects.)
  • Even though I remain a clergy (unsalaried appointment at Riverchase UMC) in the North Alabama Conference, I am expected as a missionary to raise all of my support. I receive no funds from the conference.
  • As a tool for sponsorship and prayer support (see included card), I have broken down the total amount of funds needed into daily and weekly allotments. This is only a tool:

any donation or prayer commitment would be greatly appreciated.

If you would like to be a sponsor- make your tax-deductible check out to Project Honduras (designate Leisha Boulware, Internship). For your convenience, I have included a self addressed stamped envelop in your packet. I give all the glory to God for what he has done and will do in my life. Thank you for your confidence in me!

In Christ’s Service,

Leisha Boulware
